Ye are of your father the devil, and
the lusts of your father ye will do.
He was a murderer from the beginning,
and abode not in the truth,
because there is no truth in him.
When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own,
for he is a liar and the father of it.
(John 8:44)
Satan - the great Adversary, Templer, Punisher, old dragon - is heir to the Devil and his once human wife Lilith, and the very first nephilim to see the face of the Earth. He is the first of the seven Grand Princes of Hell, a monster of destruction and chaos that goes by countless other names and finds representation in multiple cultures and religions.
He inspires mortal sins, wrath and hatred in humanity and finds mention in the fratricide of Cain and Abel. As humanity turns their backs on God under his influence, he brings war and destruction to their midst. Cruelty and selfishness bloom where he treads, he offers a way for murder, treachery and violence into the human soul.
Countless tales and myths rank around the great Adversary, who acts as the right hand of his father, the Devil, and is often referred to as the same. In the Book of Job, it is said that Satan convinced God to rob a pious man named Job off his family, wealth and safety, so that he may show his true face and turn away from God in his selfish hatred. But although God allowed Satan to completely destroy the poor man’s life, he remained firm in his belief and his prayers, which had Satan lose the bet.
This despicable creature is an impatient one, reckless and extraordinarily violent. War, hatred, distrust and the sheer joy of committing to physical violence are his attributes, and every year of human war counts as victory for him. Satan knows how to play his cards, roll the dice and predict each move before it happens; always one step ahead.
Beware this atrocious monster, who looks back on no past life that could bind him to the holy trinity, has no lost home or brothers to mourn and whose spirits cannot be weakened by guilt or emotion in the slightest.
“Satan is so much more in earnest than we are- he buys up the opportunity while we are wondering how much it will cost.” - Amy Carmichael
“I said to him, ‘What are your activities?’
He replied, ‘I bring destruction by means of tyrants;
I cause the demons to be worshiped alongside men;
and I arouse desire in holy men and select priests.
I bring about jealousies and murders in a country,
and I instigate wars.‘”
(Testament of Solomon 6:1-4)
Beelzebub is known as Lord of the Flies, a translation error deriving from the Canaaite god ‘Baal the Prince’. In other sources Beelzebub introduces himself to Solomon as Lord of the Heavenly Dwelling and a fallen angel of high rank, possibly even no one else than Lucifer himself. While his true origin is difficult to decipher by religious texts alone, this demon does stand for the deadly sin of Gluttony (sometimes Pride) and was one of the leading characters in the revolution besides Luzifer that finally led to the angels’ fall.
He inspires unholy desire, exciting especially priests to succumb to lust and immorality, spreads the worship of demons on Earth and brings war and murder over countries, cities, families and friends. The empty hole in every human soul is what he seeks to fill with his darkness, jealousy and spite - wether it is through physical or mental pleasures whom they need to gorge on without ever feeling quite full enough.
Beelzebub can be considered much more present on Earth thanany other demon. Most demonic possessions have been associated with him, and if you believe the word of some, even Jesus Christ used Beelzebub’s power to perform healing rituals on the ill. Gula is furthermore heavily associated with the Salem witch trials. As Lord of the Flies, Beelzebub spreads disease through the insects that feast on corpses and wander on to infect the living.
While one may believe that this demon is one of the most relaxed and calm through encountering him on most occasions, they should remember his status and titles. More so than any other, Beelzebub is merciless in his ways and incredibly dangerous when angered.
Beware of this ancient spirit, who has witnessed and conjured the rise and fall of kingdoms time and time again, haunting the Earth in a vast amount of identities that nobody could ever hope to count. Inside the calm volcano boils the greed and hunger of centuries, a dark void that can never be filled and knows no satisfaction..
